Our last meal together for Creating Emotional Portraits with Gillian Lee Smith was at Restaurant De Kas, a farm-to-table restaurant inside a renovated 1926 greenhouse in Amsterdam. The restaurant was the dream of Michelin star chef Gert Jan Hageman who rescued the building and turned it into his dream, Restaurant de Kas.
Situated in Frankendael Park, between the Rembrandt Tower and the nineteenth century facades of Watergraafsmeer, De Kas is an oasis of calm for the fifty-thousand guests who dine there each year; either in the breathtaking dining room designed by Piet Boon, or - if weather permits - outside in the herb garden.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal by chefs-de-cuisine, Jos Timmer & Wim de Beer
