Girona was a pleasant surprise. Smaller than Barcelona, it has French and Roman influences reflected in its architecture. Protective walls, hidden pockets and small alleyways, great for walking and stopping to browse among the many shops. Yes, Lance Armstrong once lived and trained here (saw where he lived) but this town should be noted for its charm, its food (number one restaurant in the world) and ambiance. Yes, we were intrigued.
