There is something magical when you combine encaustic with an assemblage piece. Join Graceann Warn for this 4-day workshop on Bainbridge Island, WA where she will guide you through combining these two mediums.
Along with technical instruction that will cover using encaustic, making encaustic monotypes, cold connection of objects and various mark-making techniques, Graceann will discuss the very important aspect of art making: intent and content.
Venue
The Wacky Nut Farm studio is the venue for this workshop. Located on Bainbridge Island, it is a 30 minute ferry ride from Seattle. Alternatively, you can drive up the peninsula. Situated on 20 acres, it is a beautiful horse farm.
Itinerary
Each day we will meet in the studio at 9:30 am, break for lunch (which will be provided) around 12:30 for an hour, then we will continue to work. Class will be over around 4-4:30 pm with dinners on your own.
On the last day, we will break around 2:30 pm to clean up and get ready for our show ‘n tell where artist will share their creations from this workshop. Class will be over at 3:30 pm.
Graceann will teach throughout the class and she will be available for individual problem solving.
Be prepared for four days of intense art, laughter and creativity with like minded artists.
Please note: You must be vaccinated in order to attend this workshop and you will need to take a rapid test at least two days prior to the workshop. (These are available through your local pharmacist or online). Your card and negative test will need to be shown to Bellissima Art Escapes in order to join the workshop. ACCOMMODATIONS: There are limited spaces available in the guest house. There are two queen size rooms with on-suite bathrooms, and bunk beds that can be shared by two friends who share a separate bathroom. The cost of the luxurious bunk beds is $50/night/person. The queen beds, $100/night/person. Here is a video. These will be allotted on a first come basis and will be in addition to the workshop fee. (update -both single rooms and bunk beds have been taken.)
Other options are VRBO. There are several on the Island.

Graceann Warn’s academic background is in urban design and classical archaeology. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in the collections of Yale University, Museum of Art and Design, New York, NY, US Embassies in Nairobi and Sarajevo, Pew Charitable Trusts and many others. This is Graceann’s fourth Bellissima Art Escape.
Kathie Vezzani, who is hosting the workshop, also is an artist who paints, rusts and waxes. She organizes trips for other artists and in a former life was a caterer. She has nearly thirty years of experience organizing trips for foodies and artists.
